Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, fiends, and malevolent powers growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Revealed
Episode 3 finished on a huge suspense moment and revealed the initial group of characters who will split off from the main group to begin their separate journey, apart from the other two tables.
This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be impossible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Schemers, and Explorers.
What Defines the Combat Party
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are scarce.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the group knows exactly where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the story’s plot—exploited The Crow Keepers for his own means, invading Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.
Casimir then settled his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, desires vengeance.
- Kattigan has experience in Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous location.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- Yet, their status as key figures in the influential clan could help the party reach locations they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
- Tyranny and Wicander defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This means them few options but to journey toward the northern region in search of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
Based on the recent installment’s post-show segment, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the rest of the players to round up the Questers and Schemers tables.
Audiences can expect discovering which players will be where in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
