Only one goal in his initial ten Premier League outings this season had many questioning if Dominic Calvert-Lewin's best days were over.

Yet, a only four weeks later, he has become the most discussed striker in England after netting 7 goals in six consecutive games.

His newest finish, in a 1-1 draw against Sunderland, brought his total to eight, establishing him as the highest English scorer in the Premier League this term.

A Stunning Revival

The 28-year-old joined Leeds United on a free transfer in the summer, following a nine-year period with Everton that was marred by fitness issues in its closing stages.

Yet, the data underpinning his revival in Daniel Farke's new counter-attacking 3-5-2 setup are truly impressive.

His six-match scoring streak places him in exclusive company as only the 11th English player to score in six or more straight Premier League outings.

To frame that statistic, even England captain Harry Kane did not achieve a run lasting this many games - his top is two distinct five-match streaks.

And the only English striker to better Calvert-Lewin in recent memory is Jamie Vardy, who went on an eight-game scoring run for Leicester City in 2019.

The Reason for the Hot Streak?

What is behind Calvert-Lewin so difficult to stop in the past month? A recent opponent's manager summed it up aptly.

"He has the perfect timing," the manager said. "He's smart and a really good striker and he found the timing to arrive at the perfect moment."

That natural ability and timing inside the penalty area was what made him a fan favourite at his previous club.

Pundits note the tactical shift to a 3-5-2 as a significant factor, allowing more players to occupy the box and occupy defenders, thereby given the striker additional space.
